WAKO KICKBOXING INTRODUCED IN SRILANKA

 
     
   
 

Sri Lanka, the neighboring country of India surrounded by Arabian Sea is quite popular in the field of Cricket.

While this small country is also doing well in other sports including Martial Art sports like Karate,Taekwondo,Wushu etc. Kickboxing had not been introduced formally in Sri Lanka.

Shihan S.S. Harichandan an International  7th Dan who is the founder of kickboxing in India and represents World Association of Kickboxing Organisations(WAKO) in SouthAsia , who  is responsible to promote the game in South Asia.which  has been very popular in India. During this recent visit to Colombo along with PDG Rtn. A.K. KAR, International Coordinator of South Asia Federation of WAKO, for promoting Kickboxing in Sri Lanka. DGE Suri Rajan an eminent industrialist of Sri Lanka has been appointed as Convener of WAKO Sri Lanka. During this visit Shihan Harichandan and PDG Aswini Kar witnessed a Martial Arts competition in the name of Kickboxing, of course without proper knowledge and Rules Regulations,  organized  by Master Md.Iqbal, at Kandy on 23rd Nov’08, where Shihan Harichanan officially informed the details of the authentic Kickboxing and WAKO and well accepted by one and all present there.
 
WAKO South Asia Director Shihan Harichandan informed that soon he will organize an International competition match between Sri Lanka and India. He thanked for the sincere effects of International coordinator PDG Kar in this regard. Soon both of them will visit Nepal, Myanmar, Bhutan, Maldives, and Afghanistan to introduce WAKO Kickboxing in those countries which belongs to South Asia and shall organize the south Asia Championship in 2009.
